General Manager - Specialty Contractor

Our client, a national specialty contractor with a footprint across environmental remediation, commercial coatings, mechanical insulation, and firestop systems, is seeking an experienced General Manager / Branch Manager to lead their Los Angeles branch . In this role, you will oversee all operations, financial performance, and team leadership for a well-established and stable branch. You will manage office-based functions including project management, estimating, construction management, and administrative operations. Construction Managers will lead day‑time field activities and crew supervision, while you provide overall direction, coordination, and accountability across the branch. This opportunity is open as the former Branch Manager has transitioned into a regional role overseeing multiple branches. They are seeking a leader to step into the role, oversee the LA branch, and continue building on its strong foundation. This position is best suited for a hands‑on leader who can balance operational oversight with active engagement in the office and periodic jobsite and client involvement. You will work closely with estimators, project managers, and construction managers to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in alignment with client expectations, while also strengthening team performance and branch culture. Key Responsibilities Lead overall branch operations, overseeing office staff, project managers, estimators, construction managers, and field labor across multiple disciplines Oversee financial performance of the branch, including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and monthly P&L review Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements Manage and support a team of estimators, project managers, construction managers, and administrative personnel Act as a key decision‑maker on operational, staffing, and project‑related matters Review estimates, bid strategies, and major project pursuits in collaboration with the team Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, general contractors, and industry partners Oversee billing, collections, and financial controls to ensure accurate and timely reporting Champion a strong safety culture through regular jobsite visits, audits, and active engagement in safety practices Collaborate with leadership to refine business strategy, diversify the work mix, and support long‑term branch growth Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and industry regulations Requirements 7+ years of experience in specialty contracting ( environmental remediation, commercial coatings, mechanical insulation, firestop, or similar disciplines ) Experience supporting or managing a branch, business unit, or multi‑project operation with P&L responsibility Background leading cross‑functional teams, including project managers, estimators, construction managers, and administrative staff Strong understanding of project financials, including job costing, forecasting, and branch‑level performance Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects with accountability for execution, profitability, and resource allocation Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, estimating processes, and full project lifecycle management Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes of work Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a variety of personalities and team dynamics Experience working with or around union labor is preferred Comfortable with a hands‑on leadership role that includes regular office presence and jobsite involvement (~30% field time) Willingness to travel regionally within Southern California as needed Salary: $160,000-$175,000, commensurate with experience, with potential total compensation approximately $230k-265k Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA (Onsite; regional travel required) Benefits: Car allowance, performance incentives including profit participation and long‑term incentive program (unit appreciation rights), medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, PTO, and additional company benefits #J-18808-Ljbffr RL Talent Partners
