Accounting Supervisor

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is seeking dedicated, ethical, and highly motivated professionals to join our team as an Accounting Supervisor, Administration Division in Carson City. Under administrative direction from the Chief or Deputy Chief of the Administration Division, the Accounting Operations Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing all accounting and fiscal management activities of the Board. This position also supervises assigned support staff. Examples of duties include, without limitation, managing the Board’s accounting function and providing leadership to accounting staff; training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of professional, technical, and clerical personnel as assigned; preparing periodic fiscal reports and ad hoc reports for use by other entities, such as internal and external auditors and legislative and other governing bodies; establishing and maintaining accounting systems and internal reporting and records systems to provide the necessary documentation for al fiscal transactions, classifications of expenditures, current fund balances, and audit trails; assisting in biennial budgeting for the Board; and other related duties as assigned. A minimum of four years of educational or relevant experience in public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a closely related field. A minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional experience in business, accounting, or fiscal management is required. With limitation, duties include managing the Board’s accounting function and providing leadership to accounting staff; training, supervising, and evaluating the performance of professional, technical, and clerical personnel as assigned; preparing periodic fiscal reports and ad hoc reports for use by other entities, such as internal and external auditors and legislative and other governing bodies; establishing and maintaining accounting systems and internal reporting and records systems to provide the necessary documentation for al fiscal transactions, classifications ofexpenditures, current fund balances, and audit trails; assisting in biennial budgeting for the Board; and other related duties as assigned. Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting practices, financial reporting standards, budget administration, internal controls, & fiscal compliance requirements. Understanding of payroll and accounts payable/receivable functions, auditing, and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations. Demonstrates exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound, well-reasoned decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems, advanced spreadsheet capabilities, prioritize multiple assignments while.
