Baylor Scott & White Liver Consultants of Texas is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) to join our established Hepatology team in Dallas, Texas . Our practice provides premier liver disease diagnosis and treatment, including the management of chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, liver cancer, and liver transplant evaluation and follow-up.Position HighlightsMonday through Friday schedule8:00 AM to 5:00 PMNo call responsibilitiesNo weekendsCombination of outpatient clinic and inpatient careInpatient rounding at Baylor University Medical CenterOpportunity to perform procedures, including paracentesisCollaborative team of experienced hepatologists and advanced practice providersOpportunity to work within one of the nation's leading liver disease programsJob SummaryThe Hepatology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care and possesses delegated prescriptive authority. The provider is credentialed and privileged, and services may be billed as an independent billing provider as recognized by Medicare and Medicaid within the healthcare system and in accordance with the appropriate board.This position provides comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic liver disease in both the outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital settings. The provider will partner closely with hepatologists to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage complex liver conditions, as well as perform procedures within scope of practice and competency.Essential Functions of the RoleAssess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive and focused examinations and medical histories.Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic studies.Prescribe and manage medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with approved protocols and evidence-based practice.Develop and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.Monitor patient outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed.Counsel patients and families regarding disease processes, medication management, nutrition, treatment plans, and health promotion.Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.Initiate consultations and referrals when appropriate.Provide specialty consultation services related to hepatology and liver disease management.Participate in inpatient rounding at Baylor University Medical Center .Perform procedures within scope of practice and demonstrated competency, including paracentesis and other delegated procedures.Key Success FactorsKnowledge of liver disease processes, diagnostics, and treatment modalities.Understanding of evidence-based clinical practice and patient management.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and patient education skills.Critical thinking and complex problem-solving abilities.Ability to interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing.Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare technology.Ability to develop and implement outcomes-based treatment plans.Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.QualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.Experience1 to 2 years of experience preferred in Hepatology, Gastroenterology, or Primary Care.Experience caring for patients with chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver transplant patients, or other complex gastrointestinal disorders is preferred.Certification / LicensureAcute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certification required.Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Texas.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or compact privilege.National APRN certification appropriate for the acute care patient population.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.BenefitsOur competitive benefits package includes:Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%Tuition ReimbursementPTO accrual beginning Day 1About Baylor University Medical Center - DallasBaylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health, is a nationally recognized, faith-based academic medical center serving patients across North Texas, the Southwest region, and beyond.
