Nocturnist Hospitalist Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Methodist Medical Group (MMG) is seeking a full-time nocturnist Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for our Hospitalist group to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals at Methodist Dallas Medical Center a level 1 trauma center.

This Nocturnist Hospitalist PA position will consist of either cross coverage or admissions, rotating responsibilities on a monthly basis while working alongside another nocturnist APP and two Hospitalist physicians. Full benefits included with CME reimbursement.

Job Qualifications:

1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master's Degree
2. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with acute care qualifications/certification required
3. Recognition as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner by the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas
4. Current Licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas to practice professional nursing or Current Licensure by the Board of Medical Examiners to practice as a Physician Assistant
5. At least two (2) years’ experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply
6. Must be current in CPR and ACLS certified

Job Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough physical assessment and medical histories of hospitalized patients
2. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging studies and laboratory tests
3. Make accurate diagnoses based on clinical findings and test results
4. Develop and implement patient tailored treatment plans
5. Provide patient and family education regarding their condition and treatments
6. Maintain accurate medical records and follow the standard practices of documentation
7. Instruct patients on prescribed therapeutic regimens, home care and health maintenance
8. Stay up to date on evidence-based practices relevant to hospital medicine and follow hospital-based protocols
9. Provide follow-up and health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established by physicians
10. Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals
11. Refer deviations from normal to the appropriate health care professional/practitioner
12. Provide a rotating schedule of cross coverage or admissions for the Hospitalist group
