The unit focuses on patients with vascular disease diagnoses. Patients range from young adulthood to geriatrics. Admissions may also include other medical-surgical and telemetry overflow cases. The unit consists of twelve private rooms and two semi-private rooms, accommodating a maximum of 16 patients. Staffing ratios are 1:6 during all shifts. Floating to other units may be required. Weekend shifts are mandatory. Interdisciplinary support is provided by physical therapy, respiratory services, and various other specialties. Key skills required include blood product administration, central line management, feeding tube care, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates must demonstrate competency in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias. Wound care and hemodialysis management experience is also beneficial.
