Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, and Chemotherapy Certification preferred Must-Have: Previous Charge Experience: Preferred Charting System Experience: Required, Experience with Epic is necessary Travel Experience: Required Patient Ratio Experience: 6 patients Description: The unit is a general medical-surgical and oncology/hematology unit with telemetry capability. It consists of private rooms designated for both medical-surgical and oncology patients. Care is provided for oncology and hematology patients of various age groups, from young adults to geriatrics. The unit may also accommodate general medical/surgical overflow patients. Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services among others. The daily census averages around 36 patients with a patient ratio of 6. Nursing responsibilities include administering chemotherapy and managing various patient care activities. Experience in managing telemetry and performing critical care procedures is important. Nurses should have skills in managing ports, administering blood products, and monitoring patients on various respiratory devices. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring adaptability and strong clinical skills.
