Materials and Planning Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Materials and Planning Manager for a direct hire opportunity with an electronics manufacturing organization in Chatsworth, CA. This role is ideal for a hands-on operations leader with strong experience in materials management, stockroom operations, ERP planning, purchasing, outsourcing coordination, and production scheduling.

The Materials and Planning Manager will oversee the Materials, Stockroom, and Planning teams while driving efficient inventory control, supplier coordination, and production workflow. Key Responsibilities

- Lead, train, and develop employees across Materials, Stockroom, Purchasing, Outsourcing, ERP planning, and production scheduling functions.
- Coordinate with outsourcing partners to support production requirements, delivery timelines, and business priorities.
- Manage supplier and outsourcing company negotiations, issue resolution, and ongoing communication.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels through effective ERP planning, analysis, and materials control.
- Review job orders, product specifications, operations sheets, and related data to determine efficient materials allocation and production schedules.
- Support workflow planning for parts, materials, machines, sequences of operations, and manufacturing priorities.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $100,000 to $115,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Oversee Materials, Stockroom, and Planning teams in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Manage ERP-based planning, inventory levels, production scheduling, and materials allocation.
- Coordinate outsourcing activity, supplier communication, negotiations, and issue resolution.
- Evaluate job orders, specifications, operations sheets, and workflow data to support efficient production planning.

- 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in materials management, production planning, operations planning, or supply chain within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, inventory control, purchasing, outsourcing, and production scheduling.
- Experience supporting manufacturing workflows involving parts, materials, machines, routing, and sequence of operations.
- Ability to train, coach, and develop team members to improve performance and operational proficiency.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, organization, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with suppliers, outsourcing partners, production teams, and operations leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in electronics, components, semiconductor, or related technical manufacturing environments.
- Background working with contract manufacturers, outsourcing partners, or complex supplier networks.
- APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or related supply chain certification.
- Experience improving ERP planning accuracy, inventory turns, stockroom controls, or production scheduling processes.
