Director of Pharmacy

Job description:
- Direct the personnel, operational, and financial activities of the pharmacy services function for the assigned operating unit.
- Identify the need for policy development and/or revision, and define policies in collaboration with higher-level management, input, goals, and objectives.
- Oversee or direct the development, implementation, and/or revision of function procedures/protocols in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives.
- Approve procedures/protocols and/or seek other departmental approvals as appropriate.
- Develop, monitor, and revise functional processes in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives.
- Provide input into the development and revision of organizational structure for the function.
- Approve personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc.
- Ensure the timely completion of performance appraisals.
- Develop current to intermediate goals and measures for a major function.
- Measure and assess performance.
- Assist in long-range goal development as requested.
- Assist in the development of and monitor the budget for a major function.
- Monitor activities for and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements, and company policies.
- Implement external and internal audit recommendations as directed.
- Ensure hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Master's degree in Pharmacy or comparable graduate degree.
- Postgraduate residency training and/or additional coursework in business administration preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in pharmacy administration in a hospital setting, including two to three years of supervisory/leadership experience.
- Pediatric experience highly preferred.
- Registered Pharmacist and Controlled Substance licensures in the State of Michigan obtained within 3 months of entry into the job.
