Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, support systems, and facility infrastructure. This role supports operational uptime by helping ensure that machinery, kilns, presses, furnaces, and other specialized ceramic manufacturing equipment operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Use Fiix CMMS software to schedule, track, and document maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including presses and furnaces.
• Conduct scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance inspections on manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain kilns, high-temperature furnaces, vacuum systems, and other ceramic-processing equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment issues and malfunctions, including PLC fault finding and advanced troubleshooting, to minimize downtime.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports on equipment performance and downtime.
• Manage the quote and ordering process and maintain inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
• Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures and training programs.
• Perform tool and die setups on presses and grinding equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Help ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and process efficiency.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support manufacturing goals.
• Participate in occasional call-outs as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Fiix or similar CMMS platforms.
• Three or more years of experience in a maintenance or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience with PLCs and fault finding, sensors, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical diagnosis, and industrial control systems.
• Familiarity with kilns, ovens, vacuum systems, or similar high-temperature processing equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Preferred

• Associate degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Certification in electrical or mechanical systems, such as a journeyman license or NCCER certification.
• Experience in the ceramics or high-precision manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of 5S, lean manufacturing, or total productive maintenance (TPM) practices.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, kneel, or climb for extended periods.
• Ability to work in environments with high temperatures, noise, and dust; personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
• Availability for overtime, on-call, or weekend work as needed.
