Laboratory Assistant

Job Description Hudson Hospital/Clinics is hiring for a Laboratory Assistant position. POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: Provide clerical, customer service, and technical assistance including phlebotomy and specimen processing, for the Laboratory Department in support of positive patient outcomes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: High school diploma, or equivalent. Computer proficient with MS Office. Experience with Laboratory Information Systems. Excellent customer service skills required. Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (neonatal through geriatric). Must have manual dexterity to perform venipunctures safely and accurately. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Prefer a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a detailed, fast paced clinical laboratory environment including phlebotomy. Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Phlebotomy Certification Preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Essential Duties: % Of Time (minimum 5% increments) Under direction, follows all department policies, procedures and systems. Provides a warm welcome and excellent customer service to our patients and visitors. Completes necessary laboratory documentation. Collects and processes lab specimens and evaluates their acceptability. Prepares samples for testing and to send out to reference laboratories. Utilizes the principles of continuous quality improvement to enhance departmental and organizational processes, outcomes and customer satisfaction. Participates in and contributes to department-wide programs to meet strategic objectives, mandatory education needs and organizational initiatives. Demonstrates job knowledge of good laboratory practice. Answers phone calls and processes incoming and outgoing faxes. Exhibits customer focus. Observes Safety and Compliance requirements.
