Student Wellness & Health Promotions Job Summary
The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs aimed at reducing risks associated with substance use among Georgia Southern students. This position is ideal for a passionate and dedicated professional with a deep commitment to public health and a proactive approach to fostering environments that support wellbeing and reduce risks associated with substance use. As a coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of educational and advocacy efforts, working closely with campus stakeholders to reduce the prevalence and impact of substance misuse. This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.
This position is time limited and 100% sponsored-funded; therefore, continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant or contract funding. Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, evaluate, and support alcohol and other drug education, including substance use prevention, overdose prevention, and recovery supports
- Conduct community needs assessments to identify specific problematic substance use issues
- Develop grant proposals and manage funds to support prevention initiatives
- Provide individual consults and wellness coaching to students, including to individuals seeking help for substance use issues
- Assist in the implementation of on-going evaluations of health education programs and activities
- Assist in the design and preparation of health education materials and programs
- Prepare and present educational sessions on wellness topics
- Serve on University and departmental work teams and committees
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Some experience and/or knowledge related to reducing risks associated with substance use, especially among college students
Preferred Education
- Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience related to reducing risks associated with substance use, especially among college students
