Senior Accountant

Salary/Hourly Rate: $32/hr - $34/hr Position Overview: The Senior Accountant oversees financial reporting, audits, and compliance. This role ensures accuracy in financial statements, recommends operational improvements, and supports management with financial insights. Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant: Prepare detailed reports on audit findings. Report to management about asset utilization and audit results. Recommend changes in operations and financial activities. Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, fraud, or non-compliance. Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency and accuracy. Supervise auditing of establishments and determine the scope of investigation. Confer with company officials about financial and regulatory matters. Examine and evaluate financial and information systems for reliability and data integrity. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records and financial statements. Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences. Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts. Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments. Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems. Audit payroll and personnel records for compliance with tax laws. Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns. Advise clients on compensation, benefits, and long-range tax or estate plans. Direct activities of personnel engaged in financial recordkeeping. Develop, maintain, or analyze budgets and prepare periodic reports. Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant: Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience. Proficiency in accounting software (Intuit QuickBooks, Sage 50, SAP Concur, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle PeopleSoft, Workday). Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the Office suite. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Excellent reading comprehension and active listening skills. Ability to communicate financial information clearly. Experience with auditing and compliance procedures. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles, financial markets, and reporting standards. Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant: Experience supervising or training accounting staff. Exposure to ERP and financial analysis software. Experience with tax preparation and payroll audits. Intellectual curiosity and a drive for continuous learning. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
