Internal Only (Current Shoreline College Students) Student Learning Center - Writing Tutor Job Description Support student learning by using a strong foundation of knowledge to help demonstrate, explain, apply, and practice course materials Adapt to students’ different learning styles by delivering assistance through various formats and methods Assist in interpreting assignments and meeting instructor expectations Motivate and encourage students without doing work for them Help students learn how to organize, find resources, and study effectively Communicate clearly and regularly with office staff Submit time in ctcLink accurately by the due dates Educational Benefit for Students in this Job Learned and Practiced Skills: Tutoring pedagogy (best practices, strategies, methods) Experience with different learning styles Intensive review of and practice with previously learned course materials Finding and using resources Clear, reliable, and timely communication This role will also provide access, experience, and insight into the following facets of educational institutions College tutoring and support services FERPA regulations Title IX regulations Customer service Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Must be a current Shoreline Community College Student enrolled in 6 or more credits Be able to communicate effectively through English writing, speaking, and listening Have a minimum 3.6 average math grade and no math classes below 3.0 cumulative GPA (or instructor recommendation) Have successfully completed discipline related courses with a strong foundation of knowledge Be able to work on an individual basis with minimum supervision Be punctual with reliable attendance to all scheduled tutoring sessions Interact reliably, professionally, respectfully, and compassionately with all students, tutors, staff, and others Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Be considerate of unique student needsMaintain confidentiality of student and tutor information Commit to a minimum of two hours per week for an entire quarter Be flexible about working hours that are varied and not guaranteed #J-18808-Ljbffr Shoreline Community College
