Plant Health Care ManagerThis is a working supervisory position. Arrive by 630 to 645 each morning to verify the crews have their assignments & the correct chemicals.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHiring, training and oversight of the PHC departmentStarting the day with a PHC meeting to go over issues and relevant GDD and insectsHand out routes and adjust according to weather changesFollow all tags when routing according to whose area the jobs are in attempting to keep the same PHC crews in the same areas and with the same clients so they build a rapportChecking with PHC crews each day in the fieldVerifying tank levels in the field and that the correct amounts are being sprayed and or recordedEnsure tanks are filled and ready to go each morningConfirm each person knows the chemicals they are using each day and the specific PHC issues and things that cannot be sprayedKeeping track of the weather and wind and calling Crews off when weather changes and Re-adjusting schedules and services accordinglyChecking in with each PC tech at the end of the day to find out what they've seen what issues they had and paperwork filled out entirely and matches with the computerFollowing up on any sprays at specific clients to make sure the sprays are effectiveAnswering any questions about sprays and responding immediately to any concerns or issues a client or a neighbor may haveEnsuring the yard area is clean and organized and available to mix and dump and clean out all equipment at the end of each day.Ensuring that person is doing at least 1500 gallons per day, which will require crews returning to the yard and refillingTracking crew production and bonusesTracking Saturday work and setting up making sure they are all aware of necessary time constraints with getting sprays doneMake sure all water is offTank is filledProper channels notified if water is onQualificationsCertified Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain within 6 monthsValid Drivers License, ability to drive a manual transmission and pull a trailer Excellent verbal and written communication skills3-5 year's Plant Health Care experience (arboriculture, entomology, retail or wholesale nursery, landscape design, and forestry) with field supervisory and/or team building responsibilities5-10 years of Management experienceInsect and disease management of plants, trees or turfExcellent tree and shrub identification and Diagnostic abilitiesProvide integrated pest management (IPM) on client properties using tankers, spray pumps and spreadersChemical mixing procedures and application methodsAbility to work on variety of trucks, pumps, injections systems, and other equipmentISA Certified Arborist License (required within first year of employment)MO Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License (required within 6 months)Class B CDL, Hazmat and tanker {anything over 119 Gallons} endorsement (required within 1 year of employment with tanker endorsement)Physical and Office DemandsMust be able to work and maneuver under various and at times adverse weather conditions.Read, write, and complete forms and paperwork while performing the duties of this job, which includes proficiency inMicrosoft office.
