Job Title Utilities Engineer Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Salary Range $75,012.00 - $114,131.00 per year Job Overview Utilities Engineer is responsible for providing day‑to‑day support to operations and maintenance of electrical utility production and distribution, ensuring reliable service and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities Monitor and analyze plant systems, perform performance analysis, initiate optimization actions, and participate in process improvement efforts to achieve plant goals for safety, productivity and efficiency, which may include driving a university vehicle to various plant facilities on campus. Provide technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and equipment modification; manage contractors and coordinate maintenance staff during project installations. Maintain all logic and PLC programs, install switches, and perform maintenance on the network as needed. Perform analysis, detailed design, capital request preparation, installation, startup/checkout/debugging, and cost control of assigned projects. Contribute to a safe work environment by reporting accidents and unsafe conditions, using proper personal protective equipment, following safety procedures, and participating in safety training. Continuously improve the quality and value of services provided to customers and maintain professional communication that is responsive, respectful, and solution‑oriented. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Five years of experience in design, maintenance, or operation of electrical power systems. Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Electronic Industry Technology (EIT) Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, SCADA, relaying and controls, medium‑voltage equipment and testing, and system modeling. Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications Academic emphasis in power distribution and control systems. Experience maintaining automated building operation control systems in a multi‑facility campus or university setting. Experience with air and water balance of HVAC systems. Professional Engineer certification.
