Respiratory Therapist - Baptist - PRN

This position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support services to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The RT‑CRT sets up and monitors equipment, weans oxygen therapy, provides artificial ventilation, draws and analyzes arterial blood gases, performs ECGs, delivers intermittent therapy, assists with airway changes, and performs duties ordered by a physician per established policies and procedures. Education Associate’s Degree required (Bachelor’s preferred) Work Experience None required Certifications Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer skills for data entry and retrieval Effective verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with Windows-style applications, role‑specific software, and keyboard usage Strong interpersonal skills Job Duties Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures per policy Review and document all clinical information for each patient Educate patients and coworkers on procedures and treatment plans Perform diagnostic procedures Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety criteria appropriate to patient age Adapt behavior to patient population, including privacy, introduction, and communication style Other related duties as required Physical and Environmental Demands Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, 20 pounds constantly; may involve heavy and light work conditions Manual dexterity, stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods Travel between facilities; flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call) Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, communicable diseases, hazardous medications; use protective equipment as per protocols Compliance & Privacy The employer maintains a Compliance & Privacy Program and requires immediate reporting of unethical behavior, patient/employee safety concerns, and privacy issues.
