What You’ll Be Doing The Global Data Analytics & AI Organization (DIA) is actively looking for candidates for Associate Director of Data, Analytics & AI position to drive the digital transformation agenda for our Manufacturing operations within the pharmaceutical domain. This role is central to enabling data-driven decision-making, scaling AI solutions, and shaping our data product strategy across sites. You will lead a cross-functional team of data engineers, data scientists, and analytics professionals to build and operationalize advanced data and AI solutions, ensuring they align with both business value and GxP/data governance standards. This is a strategic role, instrumental to supporting our manufacturing network expansion, improving operational excellence, and enabling AI-at-scale across production environments. You will help advance the DIA Organization’s Purpose of delivering innovative data analytics and AI solution to accelerate Lilly’s ability to make medicines for today and tomorrow while being compliant. You will drive business value, operate with speed and agility, embody a product mindset, and reward innovation and experimentation. How You’ll Succeed Lead the Development of Data & AI Products: oversee the development and deployment of advanced data analytics and AI products that elevate manufacturing efficiency, compliance, and quality. Drive Strategy with Vision: shape and execute the vision, roadmap, and long-term strategy for manufacturing data products, analytics, and AI/ML solutions that align with business priorities and operational goals. Define and Deliver High-Value Data Products: own the full lifecycle of manufacturing data products—from ideation to delivery—ensuring they are scalable, governed, and deliver measurable business value across use cases such as batch visibility, site inspections, and equipment performance. Industrialize AI with MLOps: productionize AI models using MLOps best practices for sustainable, scalable deployment across manufacturing use cases. Deliver Scalable Data Solutions with DataOps: implement high-quality, governed data pipelines and leverage DataOps to ensure reliable data delivery for analytics and AI applications. Data Governance Leadership: champion data governance across manufacturing data domains—defining ownership, stewardship, data quality standards, and metadata management for trusted, compliant data. Team & Capability Building: manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team fostering innovation, agility, accountability, and continuous improvement. Governance & Compliance: ensure AI and analytics solutions meet GxP standards, maintain data integrity and privacy, and adhere to responsible AI practices. Collaborate for Impact Across the Network: align and integrate data and AI solutions across global sites, operations, and Quality stakeholders. Advance the M&Q Value Proposition: leverage experience and networks to inform and accelerate Manufacturing & Quality data and AI transformation with focus on business value and network expansion. Thrive in Complexity and Change: operate in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment, navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and influence senior stakeholders. What You Should Bring Strong foundation in Data & AI: experience in Data Analytics, AI/ML, Data Product Management, Data/Solution Architecture, or Data Engineering—preferably in manufacturing or highly regulated environments. Cloud and modern data tech fluency: hands-on with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and tools like Databricks, Snowflake, MLflow, Airflow, Spark. Advanced Analytics & AI at Scale: ability to design, build, deploy, and support AI/ML solutions in production; knowledge of MLOps and lifecycle management. Data Governance expertise: experience implementing data governance frameworks with data quality, lineage, ownership, and stewardship aligned with policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP). Track record of delivering Data Products: define and deliver scalable data products with measurable business impact using agile, product-centric approaches. Leadership and people development: experience mentoring cross-functional data and analytics teams. Business acumen in manufacturing operations: understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and translating needs into data/AI solutions. Communication and collaboration: strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across teams and sites. Compliance and ethical AI: awareness of data privacy, responsible AI, and GxP requirements; embed in solution design. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's or Master’s in CS, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; PhD a plus. 10–12+ years in data/analytics/AI roles, with at least 5 years in leadership. Pharma/biotech manufacturing domain experience preferred.
