You earned a medical degree abroad and you want to use it in the US while you work toward residency, PA or NP school. Most jobs open to you keep you far from patients. This one gives you your own panel of patients, monthly case meetings with US physicians and nurse practitioners, and hands-on experience in a US primary care practice. No prior US experience is required.

• We listen, repeat back, and clarify. With patients and with each other, we say back what we heard and ask "is that what you meant?" before we act.
• We know our patients' names. People are not chart numbers here.
• We help even when someone is having a hard day and taking it out on us. We stay kind, stay professional, and keep trying to solve the problem.
• We ask for help when something isn't working. Nobody here is expected to struggle quietly. Speaking up early is a strength.
• We know when to step away. If a situation is heating up, we pause or bring in a teammate, so the patient gets a better outcome.
• We take initiative. When there is no patient in front of us, we ask a teammate or manager, "what can I help with?"

One more for this role: this isn't for you if you see coaching as beneath your training. Our patients need someone who listens and explains, not someone who lectures. This is a non-physician role; you will not diagnose or prescribe.

What you will do

• Manage a panel of patients with diabetes, hypertension, asthma, obesity and high cholesterol
• Call patients between visits: review the care plan, uncover what is getting in the way, support medication adherence
• Use motivational interviewing to set SMART goals with each patient, and track progress
• Write care plans in eClinicalWorks and keep program data current
• Meet monthly with providers about your patients, and flag concerns the same day
• Report daily numbers and monthly care plan goals to management

What you need

• Medical degree from any country (MD, MBBS or equivalent)
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Spanish and English required
• Strong computer skills; we train you on eClinicalWorks and motivational interviewing
• Patience, warmth and the habit of repeating back what you heard
