Step into a rewarding role as a School-Based Occupational Therapist, where you'll play a vital role in supporting students’ growth and development throughout the upcoming school year. Based in the Lorain, Ohio area, this part-time contract opportunity is ideal for an adaptable and enthusiastic OT passionate about fostering students’ independence and success in academic settings. Your expertise will help create pathways for students with various developmental, physical, sensory, and cognitive needs to navigate their educational journeys with confidence.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
- Active Ohio Occupational Therapist License
- NBCOT certification
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience is a plus, though not required
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive OT evaluations for students referred for services
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals
- Deliver direct and consultative therapy services, collaborating closely with teachers, special education staff, and families
- Recommend appropriate classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications
- Document sessions, progress notes, and participate in Medicaid billing as needed
- Take part in IEP meetings and team discussions to support holistic student care
- Regularly monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary
- Offer training and guidance for staff and families to enhance student learning
