Assistant Director (Hospitals) - Level III - Emergency Management

Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. It is the premiere health care organization for key areas such as Surgery, Cardiology, Women's Health, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, Renal and Mental Health Services. Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position : Performs complex activity in the performance, administration and supervision of diagnostic, habilitative and rehabilitative services to patients with speech and language impairments in order to assist them towards the attainment of greater effectiveness in the process of communication by addressing communicative disorders indicated by impaired voice, language or speech, and ameliorating the emotional and psychological adjustment to such disorders; performs related work. Example Of Typical Tasks : Provides assistance to departmental leadership in a wide-range of activities in the management of a health care setting and/or medical center, including such areas as health care setting administration and administrative systems, professional, operational and related support activity services. Assists in the administration management of specified activities and functions. Carries out assignments and undertakes studies involving the total service center or specific patient services, including budget planning, cost studies/analysis, and preparing specific budgets. Collects and analyzes data needed as a basis for administrative and management decisions relative to various health care setting activities. Accumulates data for budget preparations, fiscal reports, and review of budget estimates. Investigates and reports on patient and visitors complaints and performs special studies and investigations on operational units. Prepares and develops informational data in health care setting training programs, and participates in the development and updating of activity programs. Plans, directs, coordinates, controls and reviews work of subordinate administrative personnel relating to assigned tasks and projects in health care setting administration, health care setting management and related fields. Implements new programs and projects and monitors their operation and effectiveness. Performs other related duties, as directed. In addition to performing the duties and responsibilities described under Assignment Levels I and II, performs the following: Supervises and coordinates functional activities of the health care setting with other organizational units and maintains liaison with internal and external partners; prepares reports related to functional activities. Assists in the preparation of operating plans, policies, programs and procedures; assists or collaborates with appropriate staff in resolving operating problems to facilitate solutions. Coordinates and plans training programs and activities to establish performance standards; provides education and training to staff, as needed. May represent departmental leadership on various internal and external committees and in relevant functions and programs. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in hospital administration, health care administration, public health or a related discipline; or Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as described in “1” above; or An equivalent combination of training, college education and experience in related fields. #J-18808-Ljbffr NYC Health + Hospitals
