Manager Patient Care Services 1-MSM- FT Days

Job Description The Nurse Manager I is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service, including clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, labor relations, supply chain, budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Oversee nursing care and maintain compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and federal/state regulations. Supervise, evaluate, and support nursing personnel, maintaining standards of nursing practice. Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate delivery of nursing care using professional nursing expertise. Recognize patient problems and participate in their resolution. Contribute to a professional environment that fosters growth of patients and staff. Formulate, interpret, and implement nursing service programs. Review patient-care and narcotic records with staff for accuracy and completeness. Orient and evaluate new nursing staff. Provide expert care based on patient age, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria. Participate in age‑specific care strategies for neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Maintain patient and employee confidentiality and observe health‑care compliance policies. Ensure nursing unit compliance with New York State Department of Health regulations and CCAO standards. Interpret nursing policies and standards for patient care in clinics. Oversee assignment/delegation of nursing functions in the absence of the Head/Charge Nurse. Assist Labor Supervisor in monitoring nursing staff attendance and policy adherence. Participate in counseling and disciplining of staff when appropriate. Monitor medication process security and review narcotic records timely. Ensure nursing equipment and supplies are available and maintained. Interview prospective employees with Division Nursing Supervisor and evaluate qualifications. Support staff development, meet regulatory and licensing requirements, and identify learning needs. Utilize learning resources and participate in continuous quality improvement programs. Recommend standards of patient care and policies to the Patient Care Services Department. Stay abreast of nursing literature, legal, and political issues related to health care. Encourage staff participation in in‑service and continuing education programs. Serve as a role model and maintain professional, courteous, and respectful attitudes toward patients, families, and staff. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Collaborate with Unit Director and Unit Supervisor on administrative matters. Adhere to Continuum’s legal and ethical standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Age-Specific Competencies Identify physical, behavioral, and emotional characteristics typical for each age group. Modify approaches based on patient age‑specific needs and responses to treatment. Provide age‑appropriate communication techniques. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing or a health‑related field preferred. 3–5 years of nursing clinical care with Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred, with relevant clinical competence in the assigned area. Compensation Salary range: $140,001.21 – $177,585.91 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need.
