Responsibilities

Support outreach clinics for all organs in all locations. Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care. Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources. This RN position is essential in managing acute and chronic patient care for pre/post-transplant patients. Provide skilled observations, telephone triage and health assessments of patients including history, appropriate interventions, and referrals. Manage patients post procedural and/or for IV infusion therapy. Foster continuity of care and facilitate transitions across outpatient and community providers on patient population. Maintain knowledge of all applicable regulatory laws and requirements, including HIPAA, CMS Conditions of Participation, The Joint Commission, and UNOS to ensure regulatory compliance in nursing practice.

Customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals. Adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives. Knowledge and skills providing patient and family education and reinforcement related to transplant processes, including but not limited to telephone intervention and face-to-face meetings in both individual and group settings. Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation. Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions. Willingness to adapt to different populations within Transplant Center after successful Orientation.

Required Qualifications

Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. Three years of nursing experience as an RN, within the last 5 years. Demonstrated competency in the care of immunocompromised patients within the last 5 years. Transplant Certification (CCTC/CCTN) within three years of hire.

Desired Qualifications

1-2 years experience caring for abdominal transplant patients. 2-5 experience in the Ambulatory Care setting. Recent 3 years nursing experience in the inpatient setting. At least 2 years' experience in Operating Room, Procedural Area, or ICU setting. Experience in the acute care of abdominal transplant patients. Knowledge of UMHS nursing policies and standards of practice. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Hourly range for Registered Nurses $43.46-$67.40 / hour

• Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
• Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
• Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
• Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
• Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
• Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 40 hours/week Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday; potential weekends and holidays as clinic needs arise. Hours may be variable (based on patient and volume needs) Location: On-site work located in the Transplant Center. Work location could change based on patient needs. Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
