Accountant, Construction & Development

We are seeking a detail‑oriented accounting professional to support construction and development financial activities. In this role, you will manage cost tracking, ensure compliance with GAAP, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support project reporting and lifecycle processes. This position plays a key role in improving workflows, enhancing financial visibility, and supporting broader real estate operations across the portfolio. Job Function Maintain and support construction and development cost data to ensure accurate project tracking. Review capitalization activities for compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Serve as an accounting resource for construction and development‑related inquiries from internal teams. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to track the status of ongoing build‑to‑suit and redevelopment projects. Partner with Property Accounting to ensure timely placement of capital projects into service. Prepare recurring and project‑specific reports for internal and external stakeholders. Review workflows and systems, identify improvement opportunities, and support efficiency initiatives. Assist with broader real estate activities, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and quarterly close processes. Job Requirements 2‑5 years of relevant experience in a dynamic accounting environment (public REIT experience is a plus). BS/BA in Accounting; Masters and/or CPA strongly preferred. Construction and development job cost experience strongly preferred. Property Accounting experience is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organization skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Proficient computer skills; advanced Microsoft Excel; knowledge of JDE, Hyperion suite, or Workiva. Mixture of public accounting and public company experience is a plus. In‑depth experience working with general ledger analysis, including booking journal entries and detailed account analyses.
