Registered Nurse - Clinical - Outpatient Infusion

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care during the patient's hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach. Job Responsibilities Performs comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment. Establishes, coordinates, and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab data, procedures, physician orders, and protocols. Provides and documents nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs, plan of care, and changes in patient status. Documents and communicates nursing care and changes in patient condition. Provides specialized care to high‑risk patients (restraint care, pain management, abuse assessment). Demonstrates accountability for professional practice, quality standards, and evidence‑based practice. Relates professionally to coworkers, patients, families, and the health care team. Maintains safety and infection control practices. Provides service excellence to patients and families. Encourages performance improvement and evidence‑based practice. Provides age‑appropriate care for adult and geriatric patients. Offers cost‑effective services and maintains accurate documentation of resources used. Core Competencies and Performance Criteria Detailed assessment: Admission or transfer assessment, accurate documentation, post‑operative assessment, and ongoing reassessment of patient status. Plan development: Define short‑ and long‑term goals, formulate interventions, incorporate evidence‑based practice. Intervention: Collaborate with the health team, provide handoff reports, administer medications, manage IV fluids, complete referrals and consultations, educate patients/families, monitor for changes, and implement infection control practices. Documentation: Evaluate effectiveness of care, monitor clinical parameters, report changes promptly, and report incidents per policy. Specialized care: Apply restraints appropriately, manage pain with cultural considerations, assess and report abuse, and provide related documentation. Professional practice: Maintain certifications, participate in learning activities, keep up with policies, adapt to changes, and apply governing policies. Team interaction: Orient new employees, maintain a collaborative approach, serve as a resource, supervise and delegate tasks, and communicate plans clearly. Safety & infection control: Follow standard precautions, maintain a clean environment, use safe patient‑handling equipment, and complete mandatory safety training. Patient‑centered service: Provide courtesy, meet needs promptly, prevent falls, ensure privacy, and involve families in decision‑making. Performance improvement: Assist with unit goals, stay current with evidence‑based initiatives, participate in improvement processes, and conduct research activities. Age‑appropriate care: Assess and interpret age‑specific data, use appropriate communication skills, involve families, and provide needed services for adults and geriatrics. Job Specifications Minimum Education: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Missouri. Working Conditions: May be exposed to bloodborne diseases, unpleasant elements, emergencies, crisis situations, and irregular hours. Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing/walking, occasional lifting, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping.
