Assistant Solid Waste Manager

Assists in oversight of the County Solid Waste Department activities including West Daviess County Landfill, Grimes Avenue Transfer Station, and other assigned areas of operation(s). General functions include operational management, budget oversight, regulatory compliance, employee and contractor supervision, resource allocation, and additional roles as assigned.

Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to meet deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. Position involves working extended hours, evenings, and weekends. On-call for emergency management 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and Daviess County Fiscal Court policies.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physical, environmental, or biological sciences, engineering, geology, hydrology, or a related field. Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the solid waste, environmental compliance, or heavy and civil earthwork construction management related industry, with a preference for supervisory experience.

Kentucky Landfill Manager Certification (within 1 year of hire); Kentucky Landfarming (within 1 year of hire); Kentucky Composting (within 1 year of hire); Valid Kentucky Driver's License with acceptable driving history; Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) Certification or Transfer Station Management (or ability to obtain within 3 years of hire)
