Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive Position Summary: Based in Huntington Park, CA the Blaster under general supervision, responsible for preparation and blasting of customer parts according to written requirements/specifications. Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following. Responsible for preparing and transporting customer parts for blasting. Operates sandblast and related equipment. Carefully places completed parts in proper containers for shipping or next step in process. Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping. Brings any unusual problem or irregularity to the attention of supervisor. Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position. This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage. Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1+ year of abrasive blasting, industrial blasting, metal finishing, or related experience preferred. Ability to safely operate abrasive blasting equipment. Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers, drawings, and process specifications. Ability to identify and protect critical surfaces, dimensions, edges, bores, threads, and gear teeth. Ability to handle precision components without causing damage. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to perform repetitive physical work in a production environment. Ability to lift and move parts and materials safely within established requirements. Basic understanding of measuring and inspection requirements. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area. Ability to follow PPE, respiratory protection, chemical safety, and environmental requirements. Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to the following. Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions Ability to lift 25-30 lbs. May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc. Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc. Ability to hear in person and via phone Pay & Benefits Information The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law. This role is eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential, etc., if applicable. Benefits eligibility begins on day 61 of employment.
