Starting pay is based on job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, internal alignment, and organizational needs. Most new hires are typically placed between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Position Summary This role leads Power System Electricians in the operation, maintenance, and installation of transmission, distribution, and fiber systems. It ensures safe, compliant, and efficient work execution while providing technical guidance and prioritizing daily operations. The Supervisor directs staff and contractors, supports workforce development, and ensures crews have the tools and resources needed to achieve operational objectives. This role oversees work planning, maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance, while monitoring performance, cost efficiency, and system reliability. The position collaborates with internal partners and leads efforts to identify, document, and resolve issues within the District’s electrical system. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee daily operations of transmission, distribution, and fiber systems.
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously improve safety standards through
training, field audits, inspections, and corrective action plans. * Oversee daily operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. * Plan, prioritize, and assign work; review completed tasks and provide technical guidance on complex assignments. * Support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes to build a skilled and capable workforce. * Foster clear communication and team alignment through regular meetings and ongoing engagement. * Administer employee support functions, including timesheet and leave approvals, account administration, and expense reimbursements. * Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to enhance system reliability and performance. * Monitor operational metrics related to safety, quality, and efficiency; prepare reports and maintain accurate records. * Evaluate tools, equipment, and resources to improve productivity and meet organizational needs. * Assist in budget development, track expenditures, and provide recommendations supported by data and documentation. * Serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating with Asset Management, Power Delivery Engineering, and Opex initiatives (Corrective Action, Human Performance, Continuous Improvement). * Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships to support organizational objectives. * Supervise and direct maintenance engineering activities, including evaluating, documenting, and resolving issues within the District’s electrical system. * In this position, if needed to operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes, please refer to the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy, IS-TA-POL-001. * Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and Grant PUD/IBEW Local 77 Code of Excellence. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations. * Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures, as well as NERC/WECC.. * Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:
  • Following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working
conditions. * Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and * Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance. * Accept responsibility for the safety of all team members and model safe behaviors by: * Clearly defining and completing performance-focused safety activities required of you and your team. * Supporting work stoppages by employees when they identify unsafe/hazardous working conditions. * Acknowledging compliant safety behaviors and good safety performance from members of your team(s). Required Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications): * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; OR two (2) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; AND
  • Five (5) years of experience in substation maintenance and/or design; OR
  • Seven (7) years of experience working on crews performing substation and
meter relay work within transmission and distribution repair and maintenance; OR * Ten (10) years of experience managing electrical and/or fiber optic construction projects. Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications): * Union Journeyman card in Power System Electrician or Meter/Relay Technician work as recognized by Grant PUD and IBEW. Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge * Knowledge of FERC, NERC, WECC, and other applicable regulatory standards and requirements. * Knowledge of telecommunications and electrical engineering principles, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance in accordance with industry standards and best practices. Skills * Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and hold employees accountable. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees, contractors, and cross-functional teams. * Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex technical and operational issues and implement effective solutions. * Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. * Proficiency in reviewing technical work, reports, and operational data to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance. Abilities * Ability to lead and reinforce a strong safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance. * Ability to plan, assign, and oversee work in a dynamic operational environment. * Ability to interpret and apply technical information, policies, and regulations to practical situations. * Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. * Ability to manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and make data-driven recommendations. * Ability to adapt to changing priorities, support organizational initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
