Benefits Employee discounts Flexible schedule Free food & snacks Job Description The Chef/Instructor is responsible for teaching adults (and children, if applicable) the fundamentals of baking according to the specialty in which they have been hired. We are looking for instructors with the ability to teach a variety of baking specialties such as: breads, pies, doughnuts, cakes (and cake decorating), cookies, Viennoiserie. The Chef/Instructor must adapt instruction methods to the various skill levels of the students and guests, focusing on technique and creating an enjoyable environment. Part‑time, as needed. Consistent weekend availability required; most shifts will be on weekend mornings/early afternoon. Other shifts may be available during the week but weekend consistency is expected. Key Responsibilities Arrive 1.5 hours prior to class to lead Kitchen Assistants in prep and ensure the classroom is ready. Oversee and manage Kitchen Assistants during prep, class, and wrap‑up. Ensure the classroom is properly prepared when guests arrive. Welcome students and guests for each class or private event. Instruct and guide students/guests in general kitchen and food safety, house policies, and housekeeping notes. Advise management of any issues with students, guests, or staff that may need to be addressed.Utilize and adhere to the systems in place for time management and communication. Actively promote relevant products and services offered by The Gourmandise School to students. Key Qualifications & Competencies Minimum 5 years of experience in baking/pastry. Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in baking/pastry preferred. Positive attitude and desire to provide exceptional service; act as a leader in the classroom and lead support staff. Clear understanding of customer service principles, assessing student needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction. Understanding and adherence to food safety practices and hold a current, valid food‑handlers certificate. Hours Part‑time, as needed. Most shifts are on weekend mornings/daytime. Other shifts on weekdays (daytime or evening) may be available. Consistent weekend availability is required.
