Auto Claims Property Damage Supervisor

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Auto Claims Supervisor to oversee the Property Damage Coverage Unit. Position Description The Property Damage Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the overall productivity and personnel of the Property Damage Coverage Unit. Scope includes ensuring compliance with state‑mandated claims handling guidelines, understanding policy language and coverages, assuring proper investigation and conclusions of claims, monitoring production, staff development, and quality of files. Duties & Responsibilities Lead, motivate, and provide direction to unit adjusters. Conduct file and diary reviews to monitor adjuster work, ensure appropriate documentation, fair claim settlement practices, and company quality standards. Place appropriate authority level on claim files based on coverage determination, investigation of facts, and approve settlement checks within authority. Review reports and support implementation of procedures improving claim settlement process, customer service, and maintaining desired quality and quantity levels. Oversee implementation and monitoring of procedures to assure effectiveness and compliance. Determine training needs of the department/unit, establish and participate in programs to ensure personnel and process training. Identify systems issues/concerns and make suggestions for enhancements. Manage administrative functions of the unit, including: Review, assign new losses. Set performance objectives and monitor results. Conduct performance appraisals. Daily file review for payment approvals over adjuster authority and transfer to appropriate areas. Conduct unit meetings. Respond to Department of Insurance inquiries. Direct claim activity on customer inquiries. Ensure all compliance and customer service regulations/initiatives are met. Seek local candidates for Bedford Park or Oak Brook locations. Qualifications Required 5+ years auto liability property damage claims handling experience. Prior supervisory experience over auto adjusters preferred. Prior non‑standard auto claims experience a plus, not required. Strong technical and administrative background in auto claims handling. Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures. Background in personnel selection, goal setting, monitoring and communicating performance. Good leadership, training, and development skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to pass written examinations required by state statutes to become a licensed claim adjuster/supervisor. On‑site position. Estimated Compensation Range: $48,750‑$93,750 per year.
