Position Summary:

The Career and Co-op work study student plays a leading role in the creation of social media for the college, supports our recruitment of co-op students, and provides support at career and co-op events.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

· Capture action shots and short videos of students in labs, classrooms, or at job sites (with permission)

· Share reflections about co-op experience in video

· Help brainstorm video ideas and creative ways to showcase student experiences

· Conduct peer-to-peer interviews with other students (with support from staff)

· Go behind the scenes at events, showcases, or Career & Co-Op activities

· Encourage and connect with other students who may be interested in being featured

· Participate in social media takeovers to show a day in the life on campus, in the Science of Success class, or at work

· Help highlight campus spaces, student projects, and hands-on learning through a career lens

· Attend at least 3 external facing events, such as AGC events, as a representative of Franklin Cummings Tech

· Speak with classmates at co-op recruitment events and informally regarding benefits of participating in the co-op

· provide event support leading up to specific events, as well as day-of support

· Assist in the day-to-day maintenance and responsibilities of the Office

· Support the bi-weekly alumni job lead newsletter, curating relevant openings by program area

· Support other administrative projects, as needed

Students are required to work 10 hours a semester in a capacity that serves the community or supports literacy.

The College Work-Study Program provides jobs for students with financial need. This program is a subsidized student employment program designed to assist students in financing their post-secondary education. Students earn money according to the hours worked and these funds help pay their educational expenses. In order to be eligible for Work-Study, students must document financial need every year by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Work-study is a need based award that cannot be awarded to a student if the award combined with other resources would exceed the student’s need. Students are awarded funds based on their financial need but are only paid for hours worked. Any unearned funds at the end of the program term are forfeited. Students applying for this work-study position are not guaranteed a position. Work-study earnings are not paid in advance so they cannot be used to pay the direct costs (tuition, books, etc.) of the semester in which they are awarded.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in enough credit hours at Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology to qualify for the Federal work-study program.
• Must maintain good academic standing (a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or above).
• Work a minimum of 2 days a week between 9am-3pm with some shifts as needed.
• Must complete the entire Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• Must demonstrate financial need and indicate your interest in the work-study program
• Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with due dates and deadlines
• Outstanding customer service skills, listening skills
• Discretion and professionalism
• Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills
• Strong written communication
• Ability to transfer knowledge to peers and others

The hourly wage for this position is $17.00 hourly.
