Coordinator, Fleet

Under the direction of the Manager, Facilities, the Coordinator, Fleet is responsible for the administration, management, and operation of Fleet maintenance functions. The position organizes, coordinates, performs and directs the repair, maintenance and upfitting of the joint services and Public Safety vehicle fleet. The position is also responsible for vehicle allocation, vehicle readiness standards and asset management of fleet vehicles to ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational needs.

Work is within a cross-functional, diverse, challenging, and high-volume environment that requires multitasking skills, the ability to meet deadlines and deal with difficult situations. Operates with strong professional judgment, accuracy, and decision making with minimal supervision. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with interaction with supervisor limited to problems or unusual conditions.

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirement, as well as all MATC policies and procedures. Required Education & Experience: Associate's degree or technical diploma in Automotive Technology, Business, Logistics, or a related field, with three (3) years of experience in fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, automotive service, or a related area; OR Five (5) years of directly related experience in fleet operations, vehicle maintenance or repair, automotive service, or vehicle/equipment asset management, which demonstrates the knowledge and abilities required for the position; OR An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience, where each year of qualifying experience beyond the minimum may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Required Licensure/Certification: A valid driver's license

Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations governing the use of commercial vehicles. Knowledge of maintenance and servicing requirements for a commercial fleet. Knowledge of new technologies and best practices associated with fleet management. Skill in coordination of fleet vehicle utilization. Skill in conducting evaluations of vehicles to assess safety and reliability. Ability to conduct training on topics relevant to the position. Ability to coordinate service and repair of vehicles with external vendors. Ability to maintain accurate and timely records of crucial data related to vehicle maintenance and safety. Ability to budget and manage capital expenditures. Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means. Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain effective work relationships with peers, students, teachers, staff, representatives of outside agencies, educational institutions, and the general public. Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities. Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations. Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets and the Internet. Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve as a leadership role to others. Ability to establish workflows, manages multiple projects, and meets necessary deadlines.
