Emergency Department NurseThis position is for an experienced Emergency Department Nurse to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. The nurse will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in the emergency setting.Job DetailsShift Type: Evening and Night ShiftsShift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekSchedule Includes: Every other weekend, holidays as per negotiation, and on-call shiftsUnit InformationUnit Type: Emergency Room (ER)Trauma Level: Level 4 TraumaBeds/Trauma Bays: 24 beds, 4 critical rooms, 1 trauma roomAverage Patients Treated Daily: 80-110Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 for general ED, 1:2 or 1:1 in ICUCommon Diagnoses: Chest pain, abdominal pain, minor trauma, respiratory distressResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive nursing care to patients in an emergency setting.Conduct triage and assess patient acuity, ensuring proper prioritization of care.Manage patient holds and perform monitoring within the ER.Administer medications and treatments as ordered, including conscious sedation when required.Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary staff to provide optimal patient care.Utilize critical thinking skills in the management of acute and emergency conditions.Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment, including monitors and ventilators.QualificationsMinimum 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.Required Certifications: ACLS, PALS, TNCC.Experience with conscious sedation and AMI management is essential.Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and effective decision-making skills.Support StaffEmergency Department Technicians will assist with patient care, transport, and coordination of activities within the ER.Respiratory Therapists available for intubation, ventilation support, and other critical interventions when necessary.Monitor Techs are available for telemetry monitoring; RNs will read their own strips.Orientation and TrainingNew hires will undergo hospital orientation followed by unit-specific training, including mentorship shifts in different areas of the emergency department.Additional InformationFloat between multiple Emergency Department locations as scheduled.Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs.Orientation duration: Two days of hospital orientation plus unit-specific training.
