Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector will perform precision inspection of switches and other small components used in the aerospace and defense industry, ensuring that all parts meet strict quality, dimensional, and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect switches and small aerospace and defense components using micrometers, calipers, CMM equipment, and other precision measurement tools.
• Perform detailed quality control and quality assurance checks throughout the production process to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Interpret and work from technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Use and understand G&M codes thoroughly, including editing CNC programs as needed to support accurate machining and setup.
• Handle complex machine setups and operations, including high volumes of setups with short runs of custom parts.
• Document inspection results clearly and accurately, reporting any nonconformances and working with production to resolve issues.
• Work independently with limited supervision while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate with machinists and CNC operators to support continuous improvement of processes and product quality.
• Remain flexible and willing to learn and operate different machines and work in different areas of the shop as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE while working on the shop floor.

Essential Skills

• 5–10+ years of experience in inspection, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance.
• Hands-on experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Experience working with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of G&M codes and the ability to edit CNC programs.
• Proven ability to perform complex machine setups and operate equipment for short runs of custom parts.
• Solid understanding of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, busy manufacturing environment.
• Flexibility to learn and work on different machines and in different areas of the shop.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Students from machining schools who have performed well and demonstrated strong attitude and aptitude to grow into setup roles are encouraged to apply.
• CNC operators with strong performance and interest in advancing into setup and inspection roles may be considered.
• Comfort working in an aerospace-focused manufacturing environment with high quality standards.
• No formal certifications or medical clearances are required for this role.

Work Environment

This is a 2nd shift position in a fast-paced, busy manufacturing facility located in Thousand Oaks. The shop floor requires wearing appropriate PPE at all times and working safely around machinery. You will work largely independently with limited supervision, while remaining flexible to learn and operate different machines and support various areas of the operation. The facility is recently upgraded, with several new machines added over the past few years and plans to purchase additional equipment in the coming 1–2 years, providing a modern and evolving work environment focused on precision manufacturing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $40.00/hr.
