Position Summary This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position as Director of the Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Hub within MSU Denver’s College of Health and Human Sciences. The position is jointly funded by the Department of Nursing and the College of Health and Human Sciences, reflecting the Director’s dual responsibility for supporting nursing simulation activities and leading interprofessional simulation across the college. Thus, the Director is responsible for collaborating with the Nursing Simulation Coordinator, Department of Nursing leadership, College leadership, and other college program leaders in the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic, and academic center operations to provide clinical, educational, and technical expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation throughout undergraduate and graduate level programs within the college. The Director is responsible for working with staff, faculty, leadership, community stakeholders, and students to ensure that the highest-quality simulation learning activities are integrated and implemented throughout MSU Denver’s College of Health and Human Sciences Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Hub. The range of duties and responsibilities is broad and varied, with a focus on improving patient care through innovation, education, quality improvement, and research development. The Director reports to the Chair of the Department of Nursing. Responsibilities Teaching Teaching responsibilities comprise about 30% of the role. Contributes to the learning environment by teaching and facilitating simulation-based education and providing education and research experience to students, staff, faculty, and interested parties. Leads the implementation of simulation-based learning across the college, in partnership with the Nursing Simulation Coordinator and in support of faculty, who lead course curriculum and learning objectives. Supports the design, development, and evaluation of simulation scenarios, simulation tools, research studies, and other educational initiatives that align with course outcomes and apply simulation and educational best practices. Provides supervision, mentorship, and operational support to the Nursing Simulation Coordinator, who leads the design and facilitation of nursing-specific simulation. Ensures the Hub’s resources, staffing, and pedagogical support serve both nursing simulation and interprofessional simulation needs across the college. Maintains similar collaborative partnerships with program leaders across the College of Health and Human Sciences to advance simulation in all disciplines. Provides faculty with ongoing Professional Development and staff training in simulation pedagogy and evidence-based simulation facilitation. Provides operational oversight of the Hub's laboratory spaces. Ensures evidence-based Healthcare Simulation Standards are met. Depending on summer programming needs, this position may be asked to cover a summer course section as assigned by the Department Chair. Research and Scholarship Supports research initiatives throughout MSU Denver’s College of Health and Human Sciences. Identifies and pursues grants and funding opportunities for simulation education. Service Serves as an active member of the Department of Nursing, participating in department meetings and committees, contributing to nursing program accreditation activities (e.g., CCNE, Colorado State Board of Nursing), and advising nursing students as assigned. Also serves on Program, College, and university committees per university guidelines. Effectively facilitates Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Hub meetings. Acts as the spokesperson and liaison for simulation within the academic community. Administrative Manages, supervises, and directs day-to-day operations within the Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Hub, working in close coordination with the Nursing Simulation Coordinator on nursing-specific scheduling, resources, and operations. Contributes to the success of MSU Denver’s College of Health and Human Sciences by providing leadership, direction, and coordination of operations, finances, and human resources for the area of responsibility. Maintains records related to operations and services. Oversees simulation center accreditation activities and supports program-level accreditation efforts as needed. Effectively evaluates user satisfaction with the Interprofessional Simulation and Skills Hub. Ensures proper maintenance and repair of simulators and clinical equipment to support activities. Assess staff development needs, identify goals, and provide resources. Recruitment, Retention, and Selection of team members Actively and effectively recruits and retains adjunct faculty, staff, student employees, Standardized Participants, simulation technicians, and other ancillary staff deemed necessary for effective simulation facilitation. Creates and maintains a satisfying workplace that fosters professional growth and job satisfaction for all members. Ensures proper scheduling and staffing. Creates an environment that welcomes diverse, complex interprofessional relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operation within the center, the Department of Nursing, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and the broader community. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare, education, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certificate, or ability to obtain within two (2) years of hire Active, unrestricted Colorado RN license, multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact, or eligibility for Colorado licensure by endorsement at the time of hire Experience leading or coordinating healthcare simulation programs in an academic, hospital, or healthcare education setting, including working with diverse learners Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience as a registered nurse Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree (DNP, PhD, DNSc, EdD, or equivalent) in nursing, healthcare, education, or a closely related field Experience teaching in higher education and working with diverse student populations Experience with academic accreditation processes (e.g., CCNE, ACEN, state Boards of Nursing) Proficiency with emerging healthcare technologies and information systems Experience working in collaborative relationships leading simulation operations consistent with Healthcare Simulation Standards Ability to create and lead a high-performing team Experience managing supplies and equipment budgets We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range that the university reasonably expects to pay for this position is $115,000 - $132,000. This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
