Job Summary

Join a high-acuity, fast-paced Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit specializing in acute stroke and complex telemetry patients at a facility in Elmira, New York. This 34-bed unit is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, protocol-driven care.

The unit emphasizes rapid intervention, patient safety, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal outcomes for a diverse patient population requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and specialized neurological care.

As a Registered Nurse, you will manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment, performing frequent neurological assessments and interpreting telemetry rhythms in real-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including the NIH Stroke Scale.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, responding proactively to changes in patient status.
• Ensure strict compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, patient education, and comprehensive care plan development.
• Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) standards.
• Coordinate and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team, including providers, therapy services, and case management.
• Manage patient admissions, discharges, and overall patient flow efficiently within a dynamic, high-turnover environment.
• Prioritize and implement patient safety initiatives, with a continuous focus on falls prevention and maintaining skin integrity.
• Work collaboratively within a primary and team nursing model to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Proficiency in performing neurological assessments, including the NIH Stroke Scale.
• Ability to monitor and interpret basic cardiac rhythm strips.
