Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Educational Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join our special education team in Kansas City, KS. This role is vital in providing communication access to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed academically and socially within the school environment.
Location: Kansas City, KS
Term: Full School Year 2026-2027
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday (School Hours)
Dates: 8/3/2026 - 5/21/2027
Caseload:
- Two Elementary students in the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community
Key Responsibilities:
- To facilitate communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) individuals and hearing individuals.
- Responsibilities include translating spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in educational, corporate, or community settings, while upholding strict confidentiality and ethical standards
Requirements
- Registered with the Kansas Commission Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Skills: Fluency in ASL
- Licensure: Valid Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) with the Kansas State Commission
- Prefer but not must have: EIPA score
