Step into an impactful role as a Special Education Teacher, working with elementary students in a supportive environment near Redlands, CA. This contract opportunity is tailored for educators passionate about making a difference for students with moderate to severe special needs. The assignment serves a classroom of 17 third through fifth graders, some of whom present challenging behaviors. School hours are 7:30 AM to 2:45 PM with a half-hour lunch break, offering a predictable and workable daily schedule. This role is ideal for someone ready to start as soon as possible and continue through December, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s academic and behavioral needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive
- Apply effective strategies for managing challenging behaviors and supporting student growth
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and family members to support student progress
- Maintain accurate records on student achievement and behavioral interventions
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and goals
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential in Special Education (moderate/severe or equivalent) required
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably grades 3-5
- Proven background in managing and supporting challenging student behaviors in a classroom setting
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and instruction for students with diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
