Position Highlights Urgent Care Practice – Join a well‑established Baylor Scott & White Urgent Care clinic in the desirable Bee Cave/Austin area. Experienced Providers Preferred – Minimum of 1 year of APP experience preferred. Collaborative Team Environment – Work alongside experienced APPs and supervising physicians with strong clinical support. Comprehensive Support Staff – Dedicated Medical Assistant, LVN, Front Desk (PSS), X‑Ray services, and shared departmental resources. High‑Volume, Fast‑Paced Practice – Average of 24–30 patients per shift. Variety of Clinical Responsibilities Evaluate and treat new and established patients. Same‑day acute care visits. Follow‑up appointments. Individual and shared in‑basket management. Rotating Schedule – Combination of weekday 8:00 AM–8:00 PM shifts and weekend 9:00 AM–5:00 PM coverage providing schedule variety. No Call Responsibilities. Structured Onboarding & Mentorship – Comprehensive orientation led by experienced APP leadership, including organized training schedules, PEP visits, learning modules, and peer mentorship. Quality‑Focused Practice – Monthly quality assurance collaboration with supervising physicians. Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) Urgent Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider who renders direct patient care and has prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid, offering medical care within the supervising physician’s scope of practice in an urgent or convenient care clinic. Essential Functions of the Role Assess physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive or problem‑focused physical examinations and medical histories. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to determine patient problems and healthcare needs. Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments, perform procedures following approved policies, and recommend interventions to change behavior linked to health risks. Formulate and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans based on evidence‑based medicine, standards of care, and guidelines; collaborate with physicians and team members when appropriate; evaluate patient response to care. Counsel patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, including drug interactions with supplements and herbal remedies. Maintain appropriate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice or expertise. Provide consultation‑level services for conditions/problems related to the provider’s specialty and training. Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider level of expertise as delegated by the supervising physician. May be required to perform patient care duties beyond the regular schedule based on department coverage needs. Key Success Factors Knowledge of diagnosing and treating human injuries, diseases, and deformities, including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health‑care measures. Knowledge of practices, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving abilities. Proficiency in computer and related software applications. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based patient treatment plans. Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification. Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests. Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Qualifications Education – Graduate of an accredited PA program. Experience – Less than 1 year of experience in an urgent care or similar setting is acceptable. Certification/License/Registration – Must hold current, valid PA license in Texas and NCCPA certification; BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
