Senior Cost Accountant - MSD Operations

Senior Cost Accountant supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific's Electron Microscopy business, managing cost accounting and month-end close activities across three U.S. manufacturing sites. The role bridges Finance and Operations, requiring deep analysis of cost drivers, inventory valuation, and manufacturing performance to inform strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close activities for three manufacturing sites including journals, accruals, and variance analysis
• Manage standard costing processes and annual cost update cycles with business partners
• Investigate and explain manufacturing variances to identify cost-improvement opportunities
• Support inventory valuation, reconciliations, and cycle count programs
• Partner cross-functionally to identify savings initiatives and strengthen operational processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• 5+ years cost accounting and manufacturing finance experience
• Proficiency with standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
• Month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting experience
• ERP and financial systems expertise; QAD or Oracle Hyperion preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong cross-functional collaboration ability
• Interest in process improvement through automation and AI
