Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained.Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time.Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents.Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgroundsKnowledge of CT procedures and scannersAbility to learn and grow with new technologyCustomer Service skillsCT safety including radiation safety for patients, families, and co-workersKnowledge of workstationsKnowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industryMust be able to read, write and speak conversational EnglishBasic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAbility to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accuratelyUp-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray machines and printersAbility to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionalsAbility to learn and use Radiology software packages, scanners and workstations, and EMRAbility to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and proceduresMaintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging proceduresAbility to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staffAbility to complete exams in an acceptable time frame to meet ED/Observation TAT goalsAbility to assess, start and confirm appropriate placement of IVs for use in contrast studiesThe ability to assess, explain and perform imaging studies on patients of all agesAbility to learn and complete Reconstructions/Post processingGeneral computer skills and PACSBasic IV competencyGeneral physics and anatomyPast Reconstruction/Post processing skillsAbility to learn and complete Cardiac CTEducation:High School Grad or EquivAssociateBachelor'sField of Study:N/AWork Experience:1+ year of related work experienceAdditional Information:Additional Licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
