Director of Operations

About the Role An established and rapidly growing organisation specialising in the delivery of mission-critical infrastructure is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead the successful execution of large-scale data centre projects across North America. Based in Dallas, Texas , this senior leadership position is responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple projects, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery. Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Operations Director will oversee project operations from pre-construction through commissioning and client handover while leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction and project management. This role is ideally suited to an experienced operational leader with a strong background in data centre construction, MEP project delivery or mission-critical infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Lead the operational delivery of multiple concurrent data centre construction projects across the United States. Develop and implement operational strategies that support business growth, project performance and client satisfaction. Provide leadership and direction to Project Directors, Project Managers, Construction Managers and site-based teams. Drive consistency in project delivery, operational governance and best practice across the business. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Project Delivery Provide executive oversight throughout the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction planning through commissioning and final handover. Monitor project performance against programme, budget and key performance indicators. Work closely with engineering, procurement, commercial and commissioning teams to ensure successful project execution. Identify delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise operational impact. Support value engineering initiatives and continuous improvement across all projects. Take ownership of the operational performance of the project portfolio. Review project budgets, forecasts, cash flow and profitability with commercial leadership. Ensure contractual obligations are met while protecting commercial interests. Support contract negotiations, change management and dispute resolution where required. Drive operational efficiencies to maximise project performance and margin. Client & Stakeholder Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, developers and strategic partners. Act as the senior operational representative throughout project delivery. Attend executive project reviews and provide regular operational updates to senior leadership. Support business development teams during tender and pre-construction phases by providing operational expertise. Health, Safety & Quality Champion a culture of safety, quality and accountability across all operations. Ensure compliance with all company policies, client standards and applicable industry regulations. Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned, operational reviews and performance analysis. Support sustainability and environmental objectives where appropriate. Lead, mentor and develop regional operational teams. Build high-performing teams through coaching, succession planning and talent development. Promote collaboration across all business functions to achieve successful project outcomes. Foster a culture of innovation, professionalism and continuous improvement. Skills & Experience Extensive experience in the data centre , mission-critical or major construction sectors. Proven experience as an Operations Director , Regional Operations Manager, Project Director or similar senior leadership position. Strong background delivering complex MEP , EPC or general contracting projects. Demonstrable experience managing multiple high-value construction projects simultaneously. Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, procurement and commercial management. Experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction and commissioning. Excellent financial, commercial and operational management skills. Strong client relationship management and stakeholder engagement experience. Exceptional leadership, communication and decision-making abilities. Willingness to travel across North America as required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, CCM or equivalent are advantageous. Knowledge of commissioning processes and operational readiness for mission-critical facilities. Familiarity with industry standards, construction contracts and large-scale project governance.
