Senior BI Analytics Designer

Salary: $111,000 - 151,000 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 5 years of experience designing data experiences such as dashboards, reports, or analytics interfaces in a production environment with real business users.
• We require advanced Power BI skills, including hands-on delivery of production dashboards and reports, report authoring, page layout, interaction design, and information hierarchy.
• We expect experience working directly with end users through discovery methods such as ride-alongs, observational sessions, usability testing, or structured interviews.
• We need working knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and Power BI build limitations to collaborate effectively with data developers and identify when DAX, model changes, or source data updates are needed.
• We are looking for someone comfortable taking full ownership on a small team, moving work from discovery through design, build, and adoption without dedicated research, QA, or adoption support.
• A portfolio or work samples showing both design judgment and delivered Power BI dashboards or reports is preferred.
• Experience helping create or maintain a shared design system or visual standard is preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud analytics platforms is preferred.
• Experience working in a structured sprint-based delivery environment with formal intake processes is preferred.
• Healthcare operations, revenue cycle, or claims processing experience is preferred.

• We partner in discovery sessions with the BI Product Manager when the consumption experience is central to the problem definition.
• We observe how users work with data in their real environment and bring a user experience perspective before solutions are finalized.
• We challenge proposed directions when they are technically possible but do not create a strong user experience.
• We own information hierarchy, navigation, chart selection, and layout across BI reporting products, and we build those experiences in Power BI.
• We make design decisions based on the decision the report must support, not on visual preference.
• We turn approved concepts into production-ready dashboards and reports in collaboration with the Analytics Developer.
• We maintain working knowledge of operational users who need quick action and leadership users who need context and narrative, and we design appropriately for both groups.
• We test designs with real users from both audiences before release.
• We prototype early, share work before completion, and iterate based on what users actually do.
• We convert prototypes into build-ready specifications and shipped Power BI experiences.
• We maintain the Power BI visual standard for the BI team, including color usage, layout patterns, visualization rules, authoring standards, and reusable templates.
• We document design choices so the standard can evolve intentionally and remain consistent across new work.
• We track whether delivered work is being used and whether it is helping people make decisions.
• We bring adoption signals and design friction back into iteration rather than treating delivery as the finish line.
• We participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and effort estimation within a structured delivery process managed in Azure DevOps.
