Sr. Java Developer

Java Developer (Sr level and mid level roles open) Location: Fargo, North Dakota (Partial Remote) Role Overview You will join a team of developers focused on transforming a mission‑critical insurance administration platform. You will help guide the migration from COBOL and VSAM‑based mainframe technology to a modern Java‑based architecture. This is a hands‑on development role where you will contribute to solution design, architecture discussions, and software implementation while helping mentor other members of the team. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality applications that support critical business processes. Identify and propose strategies around technical problems affecting business, communicate standards, and get consensus on solutions. Collaborate with the development team, architecture, and business partners to enhance software. Lead the implementation of complex solutions and continuously refine them based on stakeholder feedback. Participate in application architecture, design reviews, and technical decision‑making for modernization initiatives. Solve complex problems to create a positive customer experience. Drive continuous improvement in both engineering practices and system capabilities. Align technical solutions with broader business and modernization objectives. Required Qualifications Effective verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with business partners and other IT staff. Problem‑solving skills sufficient to conduct research and recommend a proposed solution to problems. Able to work on multiple tasks and meet established deadlines. Able to effectively direct and coordinate the work of other team members on a project without having HR management responsibility for them. Knowledge of computer programming languages as required for the system. Preferred Qualifications A college degree in the field of computer science, information science, or management information systems.
