Job Title: Cleanroom Technician (Consumables Assembly Technician) Job Description

The Cleanroom Technician is responsible for assembling, inspecting, and packaging high-precision diagnostic consumables used in advanced testing platforms. Working in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment, this role directly supports the production of medical device components and plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance with regulated manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble small plastic and component-based diagnostic consumables in accordance with detailed written work instructions.

• Perform repetitive bench assembly tasks, including fitting, sealing, and light mechanical assembly operations.

• Inspect finished components under magnification or microscope for defects, quality issues, and dimensional accuracy.

• Follow GMP and ISO manufacturing practices and maintain accurate, complete production documentation.

• Package finished consumables for distribution, ensuring correct labeling and traceability.

• Maintain a cleanroom or controlled work environment by following proper gowning procedures and cleanliness protocols.

• Operate basic production equipment such as fixtures, sealers, and light automated tools safely and effectively.

• Record production data in designated systems and promptly report issues or nonconformances to supervisors or engineering staff.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, product quality, and workflow.

• Collaborate with team members to meet production targets while maintaining high quality standards.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production, preferably in a regulated environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work with small parts or in high-volume assembly settings.

• Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Strong attention to detail with a high level of quality awareness in all tasks.

• Comfort working in a cleanroom or other regulated manufacturing environment.

• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation, including recording production information.

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with consistent accuracy.

• Capability to use microscopes or magnification tools for inspection of small components.

• Familiarity with cleanroom practices, assembly processes, and basic production equipment operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in medical device, laboratory consumables, or diagnostics assembly environments.

• Background working under GMP and ISO quality systems in a cleanroom or controlled environment.

• Hands-on experience with plastic component assembly, including light welding or sealing processes.

• Previous exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives.

• Comfort with documenting work in electronic or paper-based systems and maintaining traceable records.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment dedicated to producing medical device consumables. You will follow strict gowning procedures and cleanliness protocols, including wearing appropriate cleanroom attire and personal protective equipment. Work is primarily performed at a bench, involving repetitive assembly tasks with small plastic components, microscopes, fixtures, sealers, and light automated tools. The position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods while maintaining focus and precision. The facility operates under GMP and ISO standards, with an emphasis on accurate documentation, labeling, and adherence to standard operating procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Guilford, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
