About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46801!

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, telemetry monitoring, and other unit equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5-6

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and may be considered at a locally adjusted rate

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• Experience managing complex drip management including heparin and insulin protocols
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols
• Experience caring for patients with mental health comorbidities including substance abuse and mood disorders

• Work in a dynamic, high-acuity medical-surgical environment serving a broad and complex patient population across a large regional facility
• Structured onboarding program includes general hospital orientation, nursing-specific orientation days, and Epic training to set you up for success from day one
