Job Title – Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D RN)
Location – 1601 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, California 94598, United States
Duration – 13 Weeks (07/14/2026 to 10/10/2026)
Shift – Night Shift, 3x12-Hour (07:00 PM – 07:30 AM)
Rotation – Weekend rotation required (4 out of 8 weekend shifts per schedule); travelers float first
Float – Yes (Mother Baby unit as needed; may float to 1–2 units during a 12-hour shift)
Call Requirement – Not Required

Job Description

Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery responsible for providing comprehensive maternal and fetal care in a high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 240 deliveries per month. The RN will manage laboring patients, high-risk pregnancies, postpartum recovery, and surgical deliveries while ensuring patient safety and adherence to established clinical protocols.

The position requires strong fetal monitoring skills, the ability to independently perform vaginal examinations, and experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients. RNs circulate in the OR for cesarean sections but do not scrub. The nurse will collaborate closely with OB physicians, nurse midwives, anesthesia providers, pediatricians, and neonatal specialists in a fast-paced Level II Trauma facility.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills / Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent strong Labor & Delivery experience required (3+ years preferred)
• Current California RN License required
• Autonomous Labor & Delivery nursing practice required
• Strong fetal heart monitoring and fetal assessment skills required
• Ability to perform vaginal examinations independently
• Experience managing high-risk pregnancies required
• Experience with Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4) infusions required
• Experience caring for diabetic, pre-eclamptic, advanced maternal age, twin, placenta previa, lupus, and maternal cardiac patients required
• Experience with C-sections, tubal ligations, D&C procedures, and post-amniocentesis care required
• OR circulator experience required (scrubbing not required)
• Ability to float to Mother Baby unit as needed
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment

Preferred Skills / Experience

• 3+ years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Previous travel nursing experience
• Epic EMR experience

Certifications

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification required
• Fetal Assessment Certification required
