Growing together.The Business Process Consultant partners with business and operational leaders to improve efficiency, quality, customer experience, and business performance across Optum Financial.This role leads process improvement and transformation initiatives, facilitates end-to-end process redesign, and helps business partners identify and implement opportunities to simplify operations, reduce costs, improve controls, and increase scalability. The consultant applies Lean Six Sigma, process engineering, and data-driven problem-solving techniques to deliver measurable business value and sustainable operational improvements.Preferred Work Arrangement: In-office at the Eden Prairie, MN location. Remote candidates outside the area may also be considered. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities:Process Improvement & TransformationLead business process improvement initiatives that drive measurable business value, operational efficiency, and customer experience improvementsManage multiple concurrent projects and improvement effortsIdentify root causes, evaluate opportunities, and implement sustainable solutionsDevelop business cases, project plans, and value realization strategiesMeasure and communicate business outcomes and project resultsProcess EngineeringFacilitate process discovery, documentation, and process redesign activitiesCreate and maintain process maps, procedures, controls, and operational metricsEvaluate workflows and identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase scalabilitySupport process standardization and operational maturity across the organizationBusiness Enablement & GovernanceSupport enterprise process documentation standards and improvement frameworksProvide guidance, coaching, and training on continuous improvement methodologies and toolsPartner with stakeholders across Operations, Product, Technology, Finance, and Risk Management to drive resultsPrepare executive-level updates, reporting, and recommendationsYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in process improvement, business consulting, operations, or process engineeringExperience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing complex projectsSolid knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and process mapping methodologiesDemonstrated analytical, facilitation, and stakeholder management skillsProven ability to translate data and business challenges into actionable solutionsPreferred Qualifications:Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certificationExperience in healthcare, financial services, banking, or regulated operationsExperience with business transformation, process governance, automation, or operational modernization initiativesSuccess MeasuresDelivery of measurable business value through process improvement initiativesIncreased process efficiency, quality, and operational effectivenessAdoption of standardized processes and documentation practicesEffective coaching and enablement of business partnersSustainable improvements that support business growth and scalability*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
