Responsibilities

Elwyn seeks a Preschool Center Director to be a key member of the administrative team that supports the mission and values of Early Learning Services (ELS). The Director is ultimately responsible and accountable for all staff supervision, educational services, daily operations of the assigned Early Learning Services Center, and oversees and coordinates all related community partnerships with agencies, school districts, service providers, and parents. The Director sets the overall tone for the facility including, but not limited to, managing the curriculum, encouraging parent involvement, and overseeing the physical facilities ensuring it complies with all local, state, and federal laws regarding safety requirements and inspection and certification procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all aspects of the daily operations of the Center including, but not limited to:
• Ensuring that required adult/child ratios are maintained at all times
  Ensuring that the site is in compliance with all protocols and requirements established by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) for early intervention classrooms
• Ensuring that daily classroom activities and services are delivered in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Provide supervision of assigned staff in the areas including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, leadership, coaching, training, performance management, promotion, discipline, and termination
• Supervise the development of lesson plans including ensuring that the modifications and adaptations documented in the IEPs of individual children are reflected in both lesson plans and daily activities
• Supervise the student evaluation and assessment process to ensure that standardized assessments are used and that assessment procedures are conducted as required for that assessment tool
• Work with the assigned Local Education Agency (LEA) Representatives to schedule annual IEP meetings on non-service days identified in the annual service calendar and ensure center staff provide draft IEP goals, specially-designed instruction (SDI), and recommendations for service levels as requested by LEA Representatives through review of IEP documentation and in response to feedback received from LEA Representatives
• Ensure through periodic review that teachers and service providers are conducting progress monitoring, collecting data, and reporting progress at the frequency required by IEPs
• Develop and maintain ongoing communication with families through parent meetings, newsletters, electronic communication platforms, and other written communications to increase the participation and knowledge of center community
• Coordinate all transition to Kindergarten activities with the School District of Philadelphia for children eligible for transition including coordinating, scheduling, and facilitating parent meetings and coordinating the evaluation schedule with the District
• Work collaboratively with the School District of Philadelphia to coordinate and resolve any escalated issues involving transportation of children to and from the center involving lateness with arrival and departure or inclusion of adaptations or modifications required during transport
• Approve center expenditures and purchase center supplies per established protocols
  Oversee implementation of center-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies through classroom observations and in consultation with teaching staff to promote proactive interventions that reduce challenging behaviors and support positive social emotional development
• Ensure that classroom instruction is consistent with the center-wide curriculum, evidence-based teaching strategies, and the IEPs of the children attending the center through classroom observations with teaching staff
  Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
  Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Special Education
• PDE certification in Special Education preferred
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience overseeing special education programs
• Seven (7) years curriculum development for and teaching experience with preschool-aged children
• Demonstrated experience in developing/supervising education programs and services
• Demonstrated experience in meeting all program accreditation and licensure regulations preferred
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating community partnership with agencies, school districts, providers, and university/higher education personnel
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Publisher preferred
• Knowledge of Chapter 14 regulatory requirements specific to IEP development and progress monitoring requirements
• Knowledge of assessment and evaluation protocols, procedures, and evidenced-based evaluation practices for the preschool population including assessment of children with disabilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
• Must be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
• Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with electronic record systems; Pelican preferred
• Must possess a current, valid driver’s license in the state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record, which will be assessed through a review of the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) record, in accordance with Elwyn’s Vehicle Operation and Driver’s Code Policy 905. For individuals licensed for more than two (2) years, the driving record will be reviewed for acceptability based on the past three (3) years. Additionally, employees required to drive as part of their job may need to successfully complete and pass an Elwyn Road Test before being authorized to drive.
