Job Overview Department/Unit: Operating RoomWork Shift: Evening (United States of America)Salary Range: $59,066.00 - $88,599.00Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team of practitioners providing surgical care to patients. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to facilitate surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that patient safety is maintained. Responsibilities Maintain sterile field Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening, maintain sterility while scrubbed, and maintain sterility of instruments and supplies Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts, following established policies and procedures Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and remain vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field Work independently in the scrub role and function as a circulator under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse May be required to perform on‑call duties and rotating shifts Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent required Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program (CST) or NYS LPN acceptable 1 to 3 years of scrubbing experience preferred Familiarity with all specialty services preferred Benefits Excellent health care coverage with no copay at Albany Medical Center providers A wide array of services and programs to support emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing Legal and Confidentiality Information Albany Med Health System is an equal opportunity employer.
