Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Night Shift Emergency Department Nurses!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (12 hr nights, weekends as scheduled)
- Trauma Level: Level 4
- Fast Track: 6 beds available
- Triage: 2 dedicated triage rooms, travelers can be assigned
- Patient Capacity: 15 main ED beds, 6 fast track beds
- Average Patients/Day: Approximately 95

Roles & Responsibilities:


- Nurse-Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4, can go to 1:5 with hall beds
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (TNCC and NIHSS preferred)
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years ED experience; trauma experience preferred
- Common Drips: Comfortable titrating critical drips including norepinephrine, propofol, diltiazem, heparin, epinephrine, midazolam, fentanyl, amiodarone, and phenylephrine

Team Dynamics:


- Staffed with 3 ED physicians and 1 mid-level provider
- Charge Nurse: 1 per shift, typically taking patients when busy
- Support Staff: 3 ED techs (parmedics) for varied duties
- Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7 to assist

Operations:


- Holds: Intermixed with ED patients
- Psych Rooms: 1 dedicated psych/seclusion room
- Security: 24/7 in-house presence
- Lab Draws: RNs draw most labs; phlebotomy handles type and cross/screen

Scheduling:


- Shifts: Options for 7-7, 9-9, 11-11, and more
- Modified Self-Scheduling: Flexible requests accommodated
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Additional Details:


- Orientation: 1-3 days with a preceptor
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
